Term 4 Goals

1

A goal is often something that is used in Sport to achieve a score. The aim in sport is to receive the highest score against an opponent. It takes practise and perseverance to achieve such a goal.

There are other goals that while they take practise and perseverance, are not about claiming a victory over an opponent. They are often about just achieving the goal that we have our sights set upon. The bible talks about this as running a race:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12:1-3

At the beginning of our term, Year 3 was asked the question:

“What is your Goal for this Term?”

We looked at the Behaviour levels particularly. Many of the goals focused on getting to the next behaviour level.

3T's Goals

Achieving Goals

To achieve goals, we need a plan. If we look at the Bible verse, it talks about throwing off the things that hinder us. If you do the following things, then you are well on the way to completing your goal.

  • What are the things that are stopping us from achieving our goal? Recognising those things will help us to see what we need to change.
  • Write your goal down and put it somewhere around the house, where it will be seen. It will help remind you of what you are wanting to achieve.
  • Give yourself a date to complete your goal by. When do want to achieve your goal by?

Good Choices

I have been proud as a teacher to see a number of students making good choices, which sometimes involve making a small sacrifice so that those goals are achieved. I believe that each of the students will achieve the goal that they have set their sights on.

What are your goals? How will you achieve them?
